Features to consider when purchasing food storage containers:
Material
Glass, plastic or stainless steel? What's important when deciding on which food container you need depends on how you will be using it. We recommend glass containers if it will be used for storing in the fridge and reheating. Most of our glass containers are microwave and oven safe, which makes them ideal for reheating, especially as they won't absorb cooking juices that can make them discoloured over time. Plastic containers are great and relatively cheaper than glass containers, making them more ideal for travelling on the go as they can be dropped without breaking especially when stored in school bags.
Airtight seals
For storing foods like soup, we highly recommend selecting a sturdy container that has airtight seals to ensure that it won't spill when on the move and to ensure it won't get contaminated. This is particularly important for storing dry foods in your pantry where moths and ants can find their way in and will ensure maximum shelf life. It is important however to remove the lids when reheating suitable containers with airtight seals.
Thermal properties
brands like Stanley and Avanti have many stainless steel vacuum flasks that are able to ensure your food or beverages stay hot for hours. This is particularly useful when taking hot foods to work or even camping, especially when there is limited access to microwaves or cooking facilities to reheat food.
