Swiss Diamond Cookware made in Switzerland
Established in 1974 in Sierre, Switzerland, Swiss Diamond originated as a scientific research company that specialised in testing new materials in the manufacture of cooking surfaces. In 2001 the company produced its own in-house line of cookware which infused diamond crystals in its patented nonstick coating, that was considered cutting edge at the time.
Why does Swiss Diamonds use diamond crystals in their cookware?
The reason why diamonds are chosen in the composition of their nonstick surfaces is:
- diamonds have exceptional heat conductivity
- are incredibly durable and able to withstand high cooking temperatures
- are a natural mineral and therefore safe to cook with
What is the Swiss Diamond XD cookware range?
The XD Classic and XD Induction ranges is the name of their evolved nonstick surfaces by the company from their original line of cookware. The company replaced their original cookware line that had a titanium-reinforced coating with diamonds and then improved it further with the XD line by adding an increased density of 30% more diamond crystals in their composition. This results in a cooking surface that is far superior to regular non-stick pans as it will not peel, crack or blister over time. Furthermore, the Swiss Diamond XD nonstick coating has been certified by the Danish Testing Institute of being completely free of PFOA chemicals.
How are Swiss Diamond pans manufactured?
Swiss Diamond produces their nonstick lines of cookware with a pressure-cast aluminium construction that allows for uniform heat distribution and won't warp over time. The company purposely uses aluminium in the construction as it is also recyclable and prides itself on producing long-lasting cookware to reduce landfill. They are also environmentally conscious in their production by partially using hydropower from the Swiss Alps at their factory!
How do I care and ensure long-life of my Swiss Diamond pans?
As with any quality nonstick cookware, to maximise their lifespan and reduce avoidable wear, Swiss Diamond recommends using silicone or nylon utensils when cooking with their pans and non-abrasive sponges when cleaning. The pans are safe to use at up to 260°C.
