Villeroy and Boch Kitchenware
Villeroy & Boch is a world-renowned manufacturer of high-quality kitchenware. The company has been in business for over 250 years and offers a wide range of products that include dinner sets, cutlery sets, wine glasses and more.
When was Villeroy and Boch founded?
Villeroy & Boch was founded in 1748 by Nicolas Villeroy, a French tilemaker, and his son-in-law, Francois Boch, a German potter. The company has been passed down through the generations of the Villeroy and Boch families and is now run by the seventh and eighth generations. It is headquartered in Mettlach, Germany.
The company is best known for its ceramic products, which include tableware, tiles, and sanitaryware. However, it also produces glassware, metalware, and furniture.
Villeroy & Boch has a long history of innovation and design. Some of its most famous products include the Majolica dinner service (1835), the Faience dinner service (1850), and the New Wave dinner service (2004).
Where is Villeroy and Boch Kitchenware made?
Villeroy & Boch kitchenware products are manufactured in several locations around the globe. The company has production facilities in Germany, Luxembourg, China, and Thailand.
In Germany, Villeroy & Boch operates two factories in Mettlach and one in Meissen. The Mettlach site is where the company produces its premium kitchenware lines. This facility also serves as the headquarters for Villeroy & Boch’s Kitchen Division.
The Meissen factory specializes in the production of ceramic tableware which includes the production of Villeroy and Boch dinner sets. The town of Meissen is renowned for its porcelain production and as the epicentre of German tableware.
Villeroy & Boch also has a presence in Asia with two production sites in China and one in Thailand. These factories produce less expensive lines of Villeroy & Boch kitchenware for the mass market.
What are the most popular Villeroy & Boch Tableware ranges?
The most popular Villeroy & Boch tableware ranges are the French Garden, NewWave and Classic White collections. The French Garden collection is inspired by the botanical gardens of Villeroi-les-Jardins, while the NewWave range is a modern take on classic tableware design. The Classic White collection is a timeless range that will never go out of style.
The Villeroy and Boch glasses are timeless in their styling and pair beautifully with Villeroy and Boch cutlery sets and dinner sets. Their crystal wine glasses have an extensive selection that can be combined from wine goblets to champagne glasses, water glasses and more in both casual and formal styles. For those looking for an everyday collection of crystal glassware, we recommend looking at the Villeroy & Boch La Davina or Ovid collections. For those wanting something more intricate, the NewMoon collection features uniquely shaped rims that sit diagonally and are very popular for those who are looking for glasses that are a bit eccentric and different to add to their table setting.
Our favourite dinnerware collection is the Iconic La Boule, available in a variety of colour options but it is a true table statement. Combining a set of plates and bowls which when stacked together creates a gorgeous sphere that can be used as a display ornament or dining table feature. Each style of the La Boule range is designed to be mixed and matched to create your own unique tablescape.
